Launching for Iowa’s 2026 General ElectionTuesday, November 3

Privacy notice · Updated July 25, 2026

Privacy by design. Not political profiling.

Polls & Back collects only the information needed to vet volunteer drivers, coordinate rides, protect participants, and maintain accountable operations. Political beliefs and ballot choices are never part of the service.

Purpose and scope

Polls & Back is an RG Herd civic coordination project. We recruit and vet volunteer drivers, receive rider requests, and provide the intake, communications, dispatch, documentation, and operational infrastructure used to connect approved volunteers with people who need transportation.

Information is collected only for those operational purposes. It is not a campaign asset, advertising audience, commercial profile, fundraising list, or permanent community database.

Current collection status

Volunteer driver applications are open and active. Ride requests are not open yet, and no rider-request information is currently being collected through the public request page.

Driver applications are active. Rider requests are not yet active.

The driver application collects information needed for vetting, verification, onboarding, and operational planning. Rider intake will open after service boundaries, dispatch capacity, public contact routes, and rider procedures are finalized.

Volunteer driver information

Driver applicants provide the information needed to evaluate them for the driving role. This may include:

  • Identity and contact information
  • Driver’s-license status and driving eligibility
  • Vehicle make, model, year, condition, and registration
  • Personal automobile insurance information
  • Confirmation of comprehensive and collision coverage
  • Availability, service area, and relevant vehicle capabilities
  • Safety, privacy, dispatch, and nonpartisan-service acknowledgments
  • Review, onboarding, and operational notes

Driver vetting and approval

Every volunteer driver is reviewed individually. Before approval, Polls & Back verifies the applicant’s identity, current driver’s license, vehicle registration, personal automobile insurance, and the safety and suitability of the vehicle being used.

The vehicle must be covered by the applicant’s current personal automobile policy, including comprehensive and collision coverage. Submitting an application does not authorize an applicant to transport riders, access operational systems, or receive an assignment.

Individuals and drivers affiliated with existing community groups, mutual-aid networks, nonprofit organizations, neighborhood projects, faith communities, and other civic efforts are welcome to apply. Every driver is subject to the same individual vetting and approval requirements.

Rider and ride information

When ride requests open, Polls & Back will collect only the information reasonably necessary to review, schedule, coordinate, and complete a ride. That may include:

  • Pickup and polling-place destination information
  • A contact method for confirmation and operational updates
  • Requested timing and return-trip information
  • Accessibility or vehicle-accommodation needs relevant to the assignment
  • Ride status, dispatch notes, and completion records
  • Safety or incident information when necessary

Polls & Back does not need and will not request a rider’s political affiliation, candidate preference, intended ballot choices, ideology, or support for any organization.

How information is used

Driver and rider information is used only to vet and onboard volunteers, verify eligibility, review service coverage, coordinate assignments, communicate operational updates, support participant safety, document service completion, investigate incidents, resolve disputes, and comply with applicable legal obligations.

Information is not sold, used for advertising, shared with political campaigns, converted into voter-targeting lists, used for fundraising, or retained for unrelated outreach.

Who may access information

Operational access is limited by role. Authorized reviewers and dispatchers may access the information necessary to perform their assigned responsibilities. An approved driver receives only the rider and assignment details needed to complete a specific ride safely.

Operational information is not public. It may be disclosed when required by applicable law or when reasonably necessary to respond to an immediate safety emergency.

Retention and deletion

Driver applications, verification and onboarding records, rider requests, dispatch records, assignment notes, ride-status information, and related identifiable operational data are scheduled for deletion on November 17, 2026.

A narrowly limited record may be isolated and retained temporarily beyond that date only when necessary to investigate an active incident, resolve an active dispute, or satisfy a legal obligation. Once that purpose ends, the retained information will be deleted.

Information retained for one of those limited purposes will not be repurposed for campaigning, advertising, fundraising, profiling, or unrelated outreach.

Website and infrastructure records

The public site contains no advertising scripts, social-media pixels, behavioral advertising systems, or third-party tracking fonts. Like most web services, the hosting infrastructure may create ordinary access and security logs containing technical details such as an IP address, request time, requested path, browser information, and response status. Those records are used to operate and secure the infrastructure.

Polls & Back uses RG Herd infrastructure and ARGUS access controls to separate public intake from authorized operational access, reduce unnecessary collection, document activity, and respond to identified security problems.

No online system can guarantee absolute security. Limiting collection, restricting access, and enforcing a defined deletion date reduce both exposure and long-term risk.

Corrections and withdrawal

Driver applicants may correct or withdraw application information through the contact method provided during application follow-up. When rider intake opens, the request process will provide a method to correct ride information or request early deletion, subject to any active safety, dispute, or legal requirement.

The ballot is personal. The ride can be collective.
